CalWORKs Eligibility
The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program is California’s public cash assistance program designed to support families with children.
Applicants must meet all state and federal eligibility requirements to qualify for CalWORKs cash assistance.
Cash Aid Requirements
To be eligible for CalWORKs services, students must:
- Be currently receiving CalWORKs cash aid for themselves and at least one eligible child
- Be enrolled in at least one class during the semester for which they are applying
Accepted Eligibility Documentation
Students must also submit one of the following documents to verify eligibility:
- A referral form provided directly by their GAIN case manager, or
- A current Verification of Benefits
